I never get sick of my breakfast. I get up to early to worry about making breakfast, so during the week this is my go-to. Healthy, very filling, raw and takes two minutes to make before bed. It has become a staple in my and many of my clients diets. Do not use processed quick oats for this recipe. You need whole organic oats. If you can’t find organic get the whole quaker oats. Why whole organic milk? It is more natural than the highly processed almond and coconut milks out there. If you don’t eat dairy read your labels and find alternatives without additives and sugar. Simple ingredients like nature provided!
You can make this right before eating, but letting it sit overnight makes it really creamy and yum! This breakfast is basically Swiss muesli with a couple tweaks. Healthy, creamy and satisfying. I hope you look forward to breakfast as I do 🙂
Ingredients:
1/2 cup organic whole oats
1 small handful raisins (organic if possible)
1 small handful (6-8) walnuts or almonds or mix
1/2 cup whole organic milk ( or un-sweetened almond milk)
Couple shakes of cinnamon
Directions:
Mix all in small jar or bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
I don’t measure, but I use the same jar so I know how much to mix. You can mix more at a time but I like it fresh, it gets to soggy for me if it is 2-3 days in the fridge. Play around with this recipe and adjust it to your liking!
I store my oats, raisins and nuts in closed containers in the fridge. It makes life much easier, and they stay fresh. Grab them out at night, mix it up in your jar or bowl and you have a healthy, grab and go breakfast. Raw and sustaining! Here’s to starting your day with a healthy breakfast!
Other options:
*Add sliced banana, berries or apple.
*Add chia seeds or hemp seed
*Add unsweetened shredded coconut
*Use organic whole milk yogurt, instead of milk.
