The Nutrivore diet was termed by Paleo Mom, Dr. Sarah Ballantyne.
I love this, it makes sense! So what is the Nutrivore Diet? It is a diet that takes into consideration the nutrient density of food. A diet that consists of nutrient dense, anti-inflammatory whole foods, not processed or refined foods. Foods that are nutritious and provide the micronutrients our bodies need to thrive. I agree with her wholeheartedly and I explain this daily to clients and friends. If you eat 50% calories of fat from french fries, or 50% of fat calories from avocado it’s totally different right? So instead of focusing on quantity of calories from foods, focus on quality. I did a blog on this 2 years ago! Quality vs quantity. Focusing on how nutritious our foods are will help with our health. So following the “nutrivore” diet means the food is nourishing and it meets the needs of each of our bodies individually. Maybe this looks different for you than it does for me. Make sense?
Nutrivores will eat foods like: Meat, organ meats, fish, fruits and vegetables, nut and seeds, tubers and starchy plants.
Nutrivores will avoid inflammatory foods like: sugars, industrial seed oils, processed foods and refined flours.
Nutrivores strive to live a healthy lifestyle. Not smoking or drinking excessivly. Also exercising and getting enough sleep and managing stress. I believe we are all a little different and I like that this “Nutrivore” philosophy takes this into consideration. My friend may do well on Keto, whereas I do better with intermittent fasting. I can eat legumes, whereas I know people that do not tolerate them well. But the one thing for sure is, nutritious- whole foods win over processed, refined foods ever time.
