Healthy back to school snacks!
Easy to pack, healthy real food for the kids and yourself! Trail mix is a really easy snack to have on hand! Dark chocolate pieces optional and only a few please 🙂 Nuts have a lot of nutrients and can stabilize your blood sugar. Add a few varieties of nuts and seeds for an interesting mix. The Celtic sea salt has minerals so adding a little to the mix can add flavor and some health benefits.
Store bought brands many times have ingredients that are far from healthy. Food colorings and vegetable oils and preservatives that contribute to inflammation and disease. Why not make your own! So easy and a much better option!
Here is an easy recipe to put together that is kid-proof and great for the whole family 🙂
- 1/2 cup almonds
- 1/2 cup of roasted pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 cup of cashews
- 1/2 cup of walnuts
- 1/2 cup of hazelnuts
- 1/4 cup of sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup of dried cherries
- 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon of Celtic sea salt (optional)
Having snacks on hand can be a lifesaver. I always tell my clients to choose real food when possible. Ye,s there is some time and preparation involved, but remember your children are watching 🙂 They can learn healthy eating habits from you. Make it fun so they will carry it on to adulthood!
